"We heard you literally jumped out of bed this morning. No te culpamos. Epic days like this don’t come around that often.
We just hope you’ve taken the time to share the good news with your thighs, calves and waistline. Introducing Den.m Bar, a new bespoke denim factory in Downtown that measures your every chiseled feature and tailors to all your stylistic whims, now open by appointment only. We understand you’re sensitive about your jeans. Being exposed to so many home movies of your padre strutting around in his off-the-shelf bootcut Lees at the Santana concert—you really can’t be blamed. Entonces, here’s your plan of attack. Email the craftsmen at Den.m Bar and schedule an appointment. In no time, they’ll call you into their headquarters, where a team of experts will work you over with a technical precision generally reserved for manned space missions. Measurements will be taken. Eyebrows will be raised. Style and fit will be discussed—as will the type of denim (American, European and Japanese) and threading. They’ll even drag you around the premises by a forklift to get that extremely worn-in look. En realidad, we’re kidding: these people are spirited craftsmen, not sadists. Within a few weeks, you’ll return—and after a few minor tweaks and adjustments, you’ll soon be walking out of there wearing the best-fitting pair of jeans you’ve ever owned. Unless, in all the excitement, you forget to put them on before you leave.”

Custom denim store opens in Historic Core; not cheap, but that hasn’t stopped sales
“DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Nuzzled on 7th Street in Downtown’s Historic Core, Den.m makes jeans one pair at a time to fit customer’s bodies and styles. Customization is the “big thing” right now, Yip noted, saying that nowadays people love to make their own eyewear, tshirts and more — by opening a custom jeans store they can cater to that demand.
"We wanted to bring back the American-made jeans to the U.S.," explained Derek Yip, one of the three partners behind the custom denim workshop, Den.m Bar, that opened last week.
What do hand-selected, personally crafted jeans cost? They’re not cheap. They start at $229, Yip said. From there, prices increase further depending on how crazy you go with the jean’s details and specifications.
If you’ve spent much time in a Nordstrom or Macy’s lately, $200 jeans may seem reasonable — especially for a pair made specifically for your body.
And at least 40 Downtowners seem to think so. Den.m had to extend their turnaround time for a single pair of jeans to seven to 10 days, in order to accommodate the 40 orders they’ve received over the last week. The number is more than they can currently process, Yip said, and their putting all future orders on hold until they get through this first batch.
According to the store’s website, the jean materials are sourced from denim mills in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. And here’s a unique detail: each pair of jeans come with free repairs for five years.
All the denim used is raw, which means it will change its appearance and shrink about one size after washing.
Here’s how the process works: Customers set up an appointment with a Den.m tailor and pick the cut (skinny, slim tapered, etc), color and type of denim. Then comes the selection of bells and whistles: zippers, buttons, color of thread and more.
Each individual is measured, pants are marked and seamstresses put it all together. The Den.m website states that each pair of jeans can be made up of as many as 19 different pieces.
Den.m Bar is located at 111 West 7th St. between Spring and Main streets. The store is open Wednesday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Sunday and Monday they’re open by appointment only.”

New Store and Brand: Den.m Bar Los Angeles
"We’ve seen a rise in custom denim brands emerging in the last year or so. Obviously there’s the much talked about 3×1 store by Scott Morrison on Mercer St., N.Y.C., but others include Indicustom, Denimcraft, Getwear, Makeyourownjeans, and Nadel&pen.
Some are better than others and some are darn-right cheesy but the new Den.m Bar that just opened in Los Angeles’ Downtown L.A. Historic Core looks very promising. The store is stylish, fresh and modern and the price is a very reasonable $200.
Den.m Bar is located on 7th Street between Spring and Main. The new store adds not only a unique shopper’s experience but also contributes to the growing stock of retailers opening in downtown L.A., making this a hot new destination for boutique shopping.
After you choose the fit/style and fabric you want, you’ll be measured and your new pair of jeans will be made-to-order with a turnaround time between 5-7 days. They even provide free shipping with each order. From Slim Tapered to Skinny Straight to just Skinny, the preferred cut can be further personalized, giving the buyer even more control of how the jeans will ultimately fit.
According to Den.m Bar’s website, their “expert in-house seamstresses use the finest materials sourced from denim mills in the U.S., Japan, and Europe to create a pair of jeans you can hold onto for a damn long time…with free repairs for five years.” The list of denim fabrics offered at the workshop include: Kaihara Denim, Nisshinbo Denim, Cone Denim White Oak (from North Carolina), Kurabo Denim, and Canadian Denim.”
