You’ve now got $350 to create your perfect pair of jeans:which shouldn’t be hard, considering they start at $279—leaving plenty of room for customizing to your heart’s content.
These are seriously finely crafted jeans. It’s all raw denim from Japanese and American mills (the gold standard in denim), sewn in LA on tough-as-hell 1970s-era sewing machines (the gold standard in sewing machines). They will last forever: adjust your plans accordingly.
Your first step: get yourself to den.m bar’s Downtown workshop. They’ll start measuring and manhandling every inch of your legs. Relax: this is perfectly normal in a jean-tailoring shop.
Next, you make some decisions. You’ll choose everything from the fit to the fabric to the color to the stitching to the pocket lining to the zipper to the… you get the idea. If you want it, it’s yours.
Then, it’s just a matter of time. They’ll get to work tailoring your creation—and in about four to six weeks, you’ll have your jeans. Which should be just enough time to part with your other pants.
And if you’re not into jeans… well, that’s okay. They have all manner of ridiculously fine denimstuffs in their workshop—bags, iPad covers, ties and what have you—and your $350 is good for all that, too.
